With extended lockdown ending on May 3, Union home ministry has relaxed lockdown measures to allow movement of migrant workers across states but with strict health protocols. Centre is considering proposal by many State Govts for running special trains to transport stranded people like students and migrant labourers, informed Punya Salila Srivastava, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs.
Replying to a question on testing protocol, Lav Agrawal said that as of now we have to use RTP-CR test only for testing and treatment.
The Centre on Wednesday indicated that the ongoing nationwide lockdown could be extended beyond May 3, but with “considerable relaxations” to people and services in “many districts”.
Several states, including UP, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal, had urged the Centre to come up with standard operating procedures for movement of stranded workers, students, tourists and pilgrims in different parts of the country.
