NEW DELHI: Madhya Pradesh has become the third state after Maharashtra and Gujarat to cross a death toll of 100 due to Covid-19. Deaths in the state increased to 103 on Sunday from 99 the previous day, while 145 fresh positive cases were reported.

MP has also crossed the mark of 2000 positive cases on Sunday, reporting total of 2090 cases now.

Indore has seen 57 deaths while the fatality count has also alarmingly risen in neighbouring districts like Ujjain which has seen 15 deaths now. Dewas and Khargaon districts have also seen six deaths apiece while nine people, all Bhopal Gas Tragedy survivors, have died in Bhopal due to coronavirus.

Indore, the epicentre of the disease in the state, has now seen 1085 positive cases out of which 24 are still in a serious condition while 107 people have been cured of the infection. The number of containment zones in Indore have risen to 182 while there are 156 containment zones in Bhopal now. Indore is still reporting over 50 per cent of the positive cases as well as number of deaths in Madhya Pradesh. 26 districts of the state are reporting positive cases. One of the districts which was reporting cases, Vidisha, has however turned corona-free after all 13 positive cases here were cured.

The state government says it has ramped up testing and a total of nearly 37,000 tests have been conducted in the state.
