Providing a comprehensive assessment of the last 30 days, the government said that India has conducted more than 5 lakh tests during (23 March-22 April), out of which- 21,393 people have been found positive for novel coronavirus. On March 23, India had conducted around 14,915 tests, added an official from the empowered group of ministers.

Commenting on government’s strategy in the last 30 days, the official cited a three-pronged mechanism to deal with the evolving situation due to the pandemic.

On March 23, 14,915 tests were conducted and on April 22, more than 5 lakh tests have been completed. The number went up by roughly 33 times in 30 days, sais CK Mishra, Environment Secy & Chairman, Empowered Group-2 .

The growth in the number of cases in India has been linear, not exponential. We are more or less, at the same spot where we started a month ago.The situation hasn’t deteriorated, he added. “Testing base has been expanded and every possible resource like private and public facilities and research centres has been put together in order to strengthen our covid fight.” said the official.

Govt’s 3-pronged strategy

– Measures to cut transmission, minimise the spread of infection

– Efforts to consistently upgrade health infrastructure and increased testing

– Holistic futuristic approach- Keeping the possible future situations in mind and comparing India’s Covid-19 model with other nations.

Earlier today, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Anil Baijal, directed authorities to create a dedicated covid-19 health facility for Delhi Police personnel.He also directed them to closely monitor containment zones, use technology, engage local leaders and volunteers.
