NITI Aayog suspends internship programme for three months

Government’s premier think-tank NITI Aayog has suspended its internship programme for three months, starting from May in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

“Due to ongoing Covid-19 pandemic NITI Internship Programme is being suspended for three months from May- July, 2020,” it said on its website.

“New dates of opening NITI Internship Programme will be intimated later after reviewing the situation,” the Aayog added.

The NITI internship scheme is available throughout the year based on the requirements of NITI Aayog. It is an unpaid programme.

The scheme was launched in 2015 and the registration window is open from 1st to 10th every month.

The period of internship ranges from six weeks to six months after which completion certificates are given to interns by the advisors of the respective division.

Under its internship scheme, NITI Aayog seeks to engage students pursuing under graduate/graduate/post graduate degrees or are research scholars enrolled in recognised university/institution within India or abroad, as interns.

During the programme, interns are introduced to various verticals/divisions/units within NITI Aayog and are expected to supplement the process of analysis within NITI Aayog through empirical collection and collation of in-house and other information.
